About STSR

Since 1961, Spanish Trail Scout Reservation has served the scouts of the Gulf Coast Council. With over 1400 acres, STSR is one of the largest camps in the southeast. It offers a full range of facilities: a 40-acre lake for swimming, canoeing, and fishing; a dining hall; and numerous places to camp.

In addition to being available for scout groups, STSR is used on a year-round basis for Cub Scout Activities, Webelos Weekends, Family Camps, Woodbadge, District Camporees, and of course, Summer Camp.

Individual units are encouraged to make use of the campgrounds during non-event weekends. Units must complete a camping reservation form in addition to a tour permit. The camping reservation form also permits the use of family cabins and canoe rentals. If available, canoes and trailers may be rented for offsite use by units, using the Canoe Equipment Rental Form.

Camping at Euchee

SPANISH TRAIL SCOUT RESERVATION is the camp of the Gulf Coast Council. The
reservation which first opened in 1961, is located on Florida’s Gulf Coast, 70 miles east of
Pensacola, near Defuniak Springs. The reservation consists of two camps: Camp Euchee
is a traditional camp with a full service dining hall and trading post; campsites have canvas
wall tents, cots and floors. Camp Jambo is a more primitive, jamboree-style camp.
Troops camping at Jambo provide their own tents and may either do their own cooking
or eat in the dining hall at Camp Euchee. Refrigeration is provided for troops camping in
Camp Jambo, but all other cooking necessities are troop responsibilities.

SPANISH TRAIL SCOUT RESERVATION operates under the belief that a council camp
provides the very best opportunity for Scouts to develop traits of character which define
the Scouting program. Council camps provide all the fun and adventure that bring Scouts
to camp but it also gives Scouts the chance to be a participating citizen in a community
whose rules are clearly spelled out in the Scout Oath and Law. New Scouts that attend
summer camp for the first time can either participate in the Pathfinder Program or plan a
regular merit badge schedule. Second year Scouts, known as “Veterans” take on the
challenges of difficult, outdoor related merit badges. By the third year, if we are doing our
job as leaders, the Scout is providing guidance for the “1st time Scout” as well as the
chance to work on Eagle required Merit Badges. Opportunities are never ending for the
Scouts, some go on to provide leadership to their camp as members of the Camp Staff.

Northern Tier

Northern Tier

Since 1923, Scouts have been voyaging into the great north wilderness to seek adventure. Eagles soaring overhead, walleye swimming in the depths of pristine lakes, meeting a moose on the portage trail. These are the experiences that Scouts get in Canada and the north woods of the United States.  Northern Tier High Adventure Program is the ONLY outfitter in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Canada charged by the Boy Scouts of America to deliver the Scouting program to Scouts and Leaders adventuring into North Americas Canoe Country.
Some of the best weather, snow conditions, facilities, and terrain for cold weather camping in North America are offered through the OKPIK Adventure program at Charles L. Sommers base in Ely, Minnesota. OKPIK provides a highly-trained staff to help you learn cold weather camping skills such as dog sledding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, clothing and sleeping systems, snow shelter building, animal tracking, cold weather cooking, and ice fishing. We offer weekend, long weekend and mid-week programs as well as a longer Holiday Stay between Christmas and New Year. We also offer training for leaders and older Scouts who are interested in developing their own cold weather programs for units, districts, or councils.
When choosing Northern Tier for your high adventure needs you can be sure that your Scouts will get a Wilderness Adventure that Lasts a Lifetime.
